The Sahara desert is famous for its size.  Normally the Sahara in Morocco is on everyone’s mind and travel plans. However the part of the Sahara in Algeria is very rich and diverse in its beauty.

The Algerian Sahara is also of great archaeological interest and was put on the UNESCO World Heritage list in 1982.

Rub al Khali Desert Drone Video

Breathtaking Drone Video In The Abu Dhabi Desert

It’s called the “Empty Quarter”. It is also known as the Rub al Khali desert and it is the world’s largest.  In the beginning of this drone video you see the vastness of the Rub al Khali desert, dotted by a few green shrubs growing out of nowhere.   Near the end of the video, the evening sunset is breathtaking.

The National Geographic describes the Empty Quarter Desert as follows; The sand is soft, fine, multicolored hues of khaki and orange, and it rolls in windswept hills hundreds of feet high as far as the eye can see, unbroken by tree or shrub or the rarest of clouds. Driving off-road into its vastness is to experience that penetrating silence, whether it is for an hour or a night.

The night sky erupts with stars, sparkling and falling, the Milky Way like a thick swirl of tapioca, and time evaporates. The Rub al Khali Desert sure is beautiful.

This drone video was filmed using a DJI Phantom 2 and the quadcopter camera is a GoPro Hero 3.  However, with the latest DJI Phantom 4, you have an integrated camera designed specifically for aerial filming.  So with all these latest top drones, you won’t have any problems with barrel fisheye distortion.

Nevada Desert Drone Video

Drone’s eye view of Burning Man Festival

Terrific early scenes from around the Nevada desert festival also knows as the Burning Man festival.  The vast flatness of the desert and mountains in the background while people are coming and going, some walking and others on bicycle.  This drone video captures the artistry of the sculptures in close.

If you haven’t seen or heard of the Nevada desert festival. Well this is what happens.  Once a year, tens of thousands of participants gather in Nevada’s Black Rock Desert to create Black Rock City, dedicated to community, art, self-expression, and self-reliance. They depart one week later, having left no trace whatsoever.
