DJI Mavic Air 2 Update Firmware Using Fly App

Here are the Mavic Air 2 update instructions to bring your drone to the latest firmware;

  1. Have at least 50% charge in the batteries of the Mavic Air 2, the RC and Smartphone
  2. Attach your Smartphone into the Mavic Air 2 Remote Controller
  3. Power on both Mavic Air 2 drone and the RC
  4. Make sure the RC is connected to the quadcopter
  5. Connect your Smartphone to the Internet using a WiFi connection
  6. Download and install the latest version of the DJI Fly App
  7. Open the DJI Fly app and it will automatically check for a new firmware
  8. If a new Mavic Air 2 firmware version is available a prompt will appear in the app
  9. Click on “Update” where you see the line “New Mavic Air 2 firmware available”
  10. Next, you will see a progress circle with the new firmware downloading and then installing
  11. At 100 percent, a check mark will appear with the message, “Firmware Installed”
  12. The Mavic Air 2 will then automatically restart

Follow the below steps to update the Mavic Air 2 firmware to the latest version;

  1. Power on the Mavic Air 2 quadcopter
  2. Connect the Mavic Air 2 to your laptop using the USB cable
  3. Open the DJI Assistant 2 software on your laptop and login
  4. Select your Mavic Air 2 quadcopter
  5. Tap on the “Firmware Update” button on the top left of the Assistant 2 app
  6. Click on “Upgrade” on latest Mavic Air 2 firmware version
  7. Click on “START UPDATE”
  8. On the next screen, you will see the Mavic Air 2 firmware updating along with a progress bar
  9. At 100 percent, you will see a green check mark and the message “Update Successful”
  10. When complete, the Mavic Air 2 will then automatically restart

Update Mavic Air 2 Remote Controller Firmware Using DJI Assistant 2 Software

Here are the Mavic Air 2 remote controller update instructions to bring it to the latest version;

  1. Power on the Mavic Air 2 remote controller
  2. Connect the Mavic Air 2 remote controller to your computer using a USB cable
  3. Open the DJI Assistant 2 software on your laptop and sign in
  4.  Select “RC for Mavic Air 2”
  5. Tap on “Firmware Update” in the top left of the Assistant 2 software
  6. Click on “Upgrade” on latest Mavic Air 2 firmware version
  7. Click on “START UPDATE”
  8. On the next screen, you will see the Mavic Air 2 RC firmware updating along with a progress bar
  9. At 100 percent, you will see a green check mark and the message “Update Successful”
  10. Restart the Mavic Air 2 remote controller

Notes On The Mavic Air 2 Update

Before you start the firmware update, make sure you have the latest version of the DJI Fly app. Some firmware fixes and new features will only work with the latest version of the DJI Fly app.

During the download, update or installation of the firmware on the DJI Mavic Air 2 or RC, never disconnect or power off the quadcopter, remote controller, the Smartphone or the Internet connection.

The Mavic Air 2 firmware update may reset various main controller settings, such as the RTH altitude and the maximum flight distance, to default settings. Before updating, take note of your preferred DJI Fly settings and read adjust them after the update.

If the update fails, restart the Mavic Air 2 drone, the remote controller and DJI Fly or DJI Assistant 2 for Mavic. Then retry updating the DJI Mavic Air 2 again.

Also, if the Mavic Air 2 firmware fails to update using the DJI Fly app, then try it with the DJI Assistant 2 app and vice versa.
